Shelter News
·         One in four Canadian women will experience some form of domestic violence in her life.
·         One in twelve children witness violence in the home.
·         Approximately 7% of seniors reported that they had experienced some form of emotional or financial abuse by an adult, child, caregiver or spouse within the past five years.
How do we prevent family violence in our communities, our schools, our homes?
The Branches Program offers free presentations to schools, community groups, churches and professionals on the topics of family violence, dating violence/healthy relationships and children exposed to family violence.
Education is an important first step to living violence free lives.

For more information or to book a presentation, contact Erica at 403-933-3370 or manager@rowanhouseonline.org

Capital Campaign Update
We have been very fortunate this past year to have received so many generous donations from groups, businesses and individuals.
We are half way to the total dollars needed to build the house. We need an additional $700,000. This can be in financial support or by way of an in-kind donation. We will need furnishings for a seven bedroom home. We will need office furnishings for the staff that will support the women and children who will seek refuge here. We will need kitchen, living room and client business centre furnishings. We will need a fully outfitted children’s play area. We will need a security system and outdoor fencing and landscaping. There are many ways that you can help us get the new Rowan House built.
Of course, a large immediate donation will get us building early in 2011, but the numerous smaller donations are what have gotten us to the point we are at today. Please help in any way you feel able.
A donation of any size will be receipted for the year it is received in. Do you need a charitable tax receipt for this year still? You can donate any time up until December 31, 2010 to receive a tax receipt for this year’s taxes.
Call Sherrie at 403-938-6785 or email r3fbcs@shaw.ca for more information.
The women, children and families of the rural Foothills thank you for your generous support.
